Things In The News

Hey, it’s hard to keep a good Thing quiet.  And really, why would we want to keep the lid on what wild, wacky and kooky Things we have to make people smile?  As it’s been pointed out, “People look to us for entertainment when times get tough.” [1]   (And this was said way before any of the current economic woes)

What am I talking about, you ask?  Well, I caught wind (hey, it’s better than breaking it) of an online article from a Jacksonville, Florida newspaper titled “Monuments to Human Creativity” and it’s about Things You Never Knew Existed®.  You can check out the full article here, it’s a good read.  The columnist, who received our catalog in the mail, picks out some of her favorite items, like the Computer Holiday Wreath Lights, Bullet Ink Pen, and the Slush Mug, just to name a few. [2]

It’s not the first time (nor the last, hopefully) that we’ve been mentioned in various publications nationwide.  When you’ve been around as long as we have (94 years!), you earn a certain... distinction.  Particularly more so in our case.  “There aren’t many companies where the human resource director dresses like Elvis, the sales staff scours the world for a Hillary Clinton toilet bowl brush and the president proudly displays his remote-controlled Whoopee cushion.” [3]

The Whoopee Cushion -- Makes noises better imagined than described!

Speaking of whoopee cushions, “Comedy may evolve, but the whoopee cushion is forever.” [4] We know that certain classics never (and shouldn’t!) go out of style, but we also love to search out the fun, the new, and the novelty that’s always popping up in the places you least expect it.  Monuments to human creativity?  That’s definitely us.  Always has been, always will.  And if you’re not familiar with us, just browse our website or request a catalog.  You’ll see what I’m talking about pretty quick.  But watch out – it’s addicting!

See you next week,

Bobby
