Unidentified Flying Things

As the annual UFO Festival in Roswell, New Mexico got underway last weekend, reports of UFOs were coming in from California to Michigan and from Great Britain to Australia. The festival marks the anniversary of the "Roswell Incident," one of the most publicized UFO sightings in history. Back in July of 1947, a rancher discovered some strange pieces of metal strewn out across the land. Unsure what to make of the material, he took it to the authorities in Roswell. The commanding officer at Roswell Army Air Field sent Major Jesse Marcel and Captain Sheridan Cavitt to investigate. And that's where everything gets interesting.

At first the Army issued a press release announcing it had recovered a "flying disk." But they quickly retracted their story, restricting any additional media coverage. Later, the Army held a press conference explaining that their two highly trained intelligence officers had misidentified the debris. They claimed the wreckage was the remains of a downed weather balloon with a metallic radar reflector. Sound suspicious? A lot of UFO investigators thought the same thing. And so, the most famous UFO cover-up controversy in America was born.

But did something similar happen in Europe? Mark Olly, best known for his work on ITV Granada/Sky History Channel’s television series “Lost Treasures” presents a compelling case with his "Europe's Roswell" DVD. In January 1983, the sleepy Welsh village of Llanilar near Aberystwyth was buzzed by a strange flying craft, which hit trees, scattered shiny metal debris over four fields and then flew off--apparently unaffected by its close encounter with the earth. Olly claims that a farmer saw the debris and watched the clean-up operation, a national newspaper reported the story, a team of civilian investigators actually made it to the site and, most remarkable, that a collection of strange metallic debris remains. On this DVD you can see--for the first time ever in graphic detail--genuine pieces of a UFO.

Four other famous cases are explored in Reality Entertainment's first in a series of UFO DVDs, which is compiled from lectures given at the International Scientific and Metaphysical Symposium in 2003. In "Aliens & The Scalpel," Dr. Roger Leir takes a serious look at the scientific and medical aspects of alien abductions. He headed up two surgical teams that removed several suspected alien implants from numerous individuals. Travis Walton was with a group of loggers when they saw a strange light in the sky. The other three men stayed in the truck, but Walton got out to get a closer look. His friends looked on as he was blasted by a bolt of energy. They ran and Walton went missing for five days. He tells "The Walton Story" in his own words. Michael Horn has been researching "The Billy Meier Case" for over 25 years. Because of the amount and accuracy of Meier's material, and the failure of professional skeptics and debunkers to duplicate any of Meier's evidence, Horn concludes that Meier's credibility is unequaled by any other source. Finally, Kathleen Andersen explores the question of how the Sumerian culture sprung up in Mesopotamia--seemingly out of nowhere. She shares the earliest known accounts of the original great flood and of Gods who lived in the sky and had advanced knowledge of cosmology.

"The Secret: Evidence We Are Not Alone" takes a look at the official US government position on UFOs. The DVDs expose the super-secret group MJ-12, an elite military group whose job is to investigate and conceal alien and UFO encounters. It offers proof that the official US government position on UFOs was--and is--a deliberately orchestrated deception to hide the truth from the public. With video, photos, secret government documents, and a series of interviews with investigators, witnesses, researchers, scientists and astronauts, you can explore the best known and most credible UFO stories in the world.

"UFOs: The Great Debate" starts with the history of the UFO controversy and then takes a shrewd and balanced look at the case for and against extraterrestrial intelligence. Author J. Allan Danelek presents scientific evidence that would support the existence of other life-sustaining planets and UFOs and makes a detailed examination of well-known hoaxes, raising practical objections based on radar and satellite observations. He also explores government conspiracies and cover-ups--including the Roswell incident. Finally, he speculates about first contact and the possible alien agenda. Are they here to help us? Or do they have a more sinister reason for visiting?

Like most people, I don't know what to make of all these claims, but I try to keep an open mind. Because there is one thing I know for sure: if I claim to know everything, someone will come around and prove me wrong.

Keep watching the skies. I'll see you next week,

Bobby
