Military Things

My friend's oldest son James is going into the Navy next month. When I went looking for a little someThing to bring to the going-away party, it occurred to me every day is a good day to remember our brave men and women in uniform. So, while I was at it, I picked a few of my favorite Military Things that help us honor those who serve this country with courage and pride.

These denim jackets are made in the USA of 100% cotton. The jacket buttons in the front and has a highly detailed embossed military logo on the back. With four front pockets, there's plenty of room for all the Things a soldier needs when they're not on duty. Pair the jacket with the embossed messenger bag and they'll have plenty of space for the Things they carry at home and abroad. It's made of 100% durable green cotton, has three large compartments and the front flap has a secure snap closure on each side.

While we didn't have one of these in stock for our Navy-bound soldier, I like these Valor Watches a lot. They're water resistant and have nice black leather bands. Each has a finely detailed branch emblem on the face and the back of each watch has an inscription of the branch's slogan. The Marine watch says "Semper Fidelis", the Air Force watch says "One Over All" and the Army watch says "This We'll Defend." Not only are these watches great for those who serve, they're great spouses, moms, dads, grandparents--anyone who wants to show their pride.

And speaking of displaying our pride for those who serve, we have a couple of Things for around the house that do just that. Our doormats welcome guests with the family name imprinted over the words "Home Of A Proud Army (or USMC) Family." They can be used indoors or out, they have non-fraying edges and they're printed with colorfast ink that really lasts.

These frames are a great way to keep your loved ones in your thoughts every day while they're serving their tours. Each goldtone frame holds a 4" x 6" photo, has a branch-specific emblem and reads "Thinking of you while away, For your safe return we pray."

With all the military Things we have, it was hard to narrow my choices and pick these few favorites. Once I did that, I still had to pick the perfect going-away present. So what did I choose? Two Things. First, I got the messenger bag for the new Navy man. I figured he could use it to stow pictures, magazines and all the Things that he'll want to keep close to him to remind him of home. And though it's not necessary or expected, I chose the Navy frame for his parents, who are sad to see him go, but fiercely proud of their son for wanting to serve his country.

To James, to his parents, to all who serve and to all who love them, I salute you.

I'll see you next week,
Bobby
